Testimonials
Arjun & Riley – Homemade reusable straws
“We had a lot of fun KIDOVATING! We sold out of our environmentally friendly, homemade straws. Customers loved them and it was so great to help the environment. We also thought it was cool to be able to make a donation from our KIDOVATE profits. We would definitely tell other kids to Kidovate. It’s a really awesome way to learn a lot of business skills and make some money, while having fun with your friends!”
The first team to set up on Market Day – Ready for customers!
Maija – Greeting cards
I valued the opportunity for customers, besides my family and friends, to check out my handmade cards. I enjoyed engaging with the customers and Kidovate volunteers and hearing and seeing their reactions to my product. It was also a great introduction to managing the finances – I had a spreadsheet to record my sales.
Other youth should consider participating next year because it’s a great learning opportunity with low financial risk. It was super helpful to see how many cards I could sell in 5 hours without having to pay for a table rental.”
Sophie – Poetry book
Kidovate provides an excellent opportunity for youth entrepreneurs to get noticed while gaining experience by marketing their products/services to the greater community. In the process, youth learn how to develop bookkeeping skills by setting realistic price points, putting together floats, and accounting for their sales – all of which can be applied for use in everyday life.”
Cassia – Bath bombs
“The Kidovate experience was valuable because it gave me the opportunity to sell my products in a public setting giving me the chance to earn money, give to charity, and run my own business.
Other young people that love to make things and are entrepreneurial should consider this market as it’s a great way to make money and have fun with other kids.”
Seamus and Jasper – Bookmarks, Felt rocks, & Tie-dye socks
“The experience was valuable because we saw customers and got to talk to them. It was fun making the products. I was happy to see everyone stopping by and buying stuff. Other youth should participate because it was fun, you can make some money, and you can see other things kids have made!”
Thea – Soaps
“I think the Kidovate Market was a valuable experience because it helped me to better understand business and how things sell in the real world. It also helped me to see that not all customers think the same about the products, but a lot of cutomers enjoyed them. I think that more youth should participate next year because it was fun and they would learn more skills from the volunteers and cutomers, and get more exposure in their community.
I donated $20 from my Kidovate profits to the Juan de Fuca Run for Type 1 Diabetes. I am running in the event with my friend who was diagnosed last summer with Type 1 Diabetes.”
Heather Young (parent)
“The event was extremely well run. I was very impressed with the Kidovate organization team. Everything was set up on time, looked professional, and there were lots of Kidovate staff and volunteers around to help if needed.
My daughter and her friend really enjoyed the bonus of a cookie and special lollipop for being a part of the event! We were also really impressed with the quality of the youth vendor products; it was hard not to spend money. Thank you for organizing this fantastic event for our future entrepreneurs!”
